Field verifier agreement

Version 2026.09. Please read it before you accept it.

This sets out what you are agreeing to do, what we will pay you, and what we are and are not responsible for. It is written plainly on purpose.

1. You are not our employee

You are an independent contractor. You choose which visits to take and when to work, and you may stop at any time. Nothing here creates employment, partnership or agency. We do not deduct tax on your behalf, and what you earn through this platform is income you are responsible for declaring.

2. What we ask of you

  • Go to the address and see it for yourself. Do not file a visit you did not make.
  • Record what you actually found, including when it is not what the requesting organisation was hoping for.
  • Photograph the entrance, or the front of the property where there is no gate. Your position and the time are printed onto every photograph as you take it.
  • Treat the people you meet with courtesy. You are a stranger at their door asking about someone.
  • Do not enter a property you are not invited into, and do not press anybody who does not want to speak to you.

3. Your safety comes before the work

Leave any situation that feels unsafe. You will not be penalised for abandoning a visit for your own safety, and you do not need permission first. Use the SOS button in your dashboard: it sends your position to us immediately.

We are not able to protect you in the field. We can raise an alarm, call you, and contact the authorities on your behalf, but we cannot reach you quickly and you should not plan on the basis that we can. Assess every address before you approach it, and do not visit somewhere you would not otherwise go.

4. What we are not responsible for

To the fullest extent the law allows, YardCode and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria Limited are not liable for any injury, loss, theft or damage you suffer while carrying out a visit, however it arises, including while travelling to or from an address.

You travel at your own risk and at your own cost. You are responsible for your own insurance, your own transport and your own equipment. We do not provide a vehicle, a phone or cover for either.

5. What you are responsible for

You indemnify us against any claim arising from something you did during a visit: damage to property, a dispute with somebody at an address, any representation you made about us or about the organisation that requested the visit, and anything you did that was unlawful.

You must not present yourself as a police officer, a government official, or an employee of the organisation that requested the visit. You are a verifier acting for YardCode, and that is all you may say you are.

6. The information you are given

A visit gives you somebody's name, their phone number and their address. That information is given to you for one purpose and for the duration of that visit.

You must not:

  • keep any copy of it once the visit is submitted
  • share it with anyone, including family, other verifiers, or the organisation that requested it
  • use it to contact the person for any other reason
  • photograph anything beyond what the visit asks for

This is the clause we take most seriously. Misuse of somebody's address ends your account immediately and may be reported to the authorities. You are being trusted with where people live.

7. Payment

You are paid a fixed fee for each completed visit, shown in your dashboard before you accept one. The fee is the same whatever you find: we do not pay more for a confirmation than for a refusal, because paying differently for different answers would buy the answer rather than the work.

Payment is withheld where there is no evidence you attended, in particular where the position recorded with your photographs is outside the permitted distance from the address. It is released once that is reviewed and resolved. We will tell you when this happens and why.

Payment is made by bank transfer in arrears. We do not guarantee a volume of work or any minimum earnings.

8. Ending this

Either of us may end this arrangement at any time and without notice. You will be paid for completed visits that are not under review. We may suspend your account immediately where we believe a visit was falsified or somebody's information was misused.

9. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and is subject to the jurisdiction of its courts.

You do not need an account to read this. When you are ready, the application form asks you to accept it.
